Planning your day out when you’re on a cruise ship can seem like an arduous task, especially when you’re trying to please everyone in your travel party.  So, if you’re going on a cruise, its good to know that most cruise ships have a large variety of activities planned to please just about anyone on board.

1.     Feeling lucky?  Almost every cruise ship has a full Vegas-style casino to please anyone with the urge to roll the dice or pull on the slot machine.  Cruise Casinos have a multitude of slot machines ranging from penny slots to dollar slots.  The slot machines have the same fun games that you would expect to see if you were traveling to Las Vegas.  As you walk further into the casino, cards are being shuffled out on all the different card tables.  Feel free to take a seat at these tables ranging from, Black Jack, Baccarat, Caribbean Stud Poker, and regular poker.  If you’re a high roller, go ahead and join a game of Roulette, Craps, or a private game of Texas Hold ‘em.  And of course, the bar is open.

2.     Feeling Hungry?  The food never stops being made on a cruise ship.  Go ahead and visit the gourmet buffet in the ship.  Gorge yourself on a wide range of delicious meals including pizza, Chinese, New York deli sandwiches, salads, and of course, good ol’ American hot dogs and burgers.  The food never stops, so feel free to get up for seconds, thirds, or even fourths!  Then, when you’re done, go grab some tasty treats from the dessert area with cakes, brownies, cookies and even a do-it-yourself sundae bar!  And don’t worry about cleaning up your mess when your finished, just get up and walk away, and the ship staff will take care of it for you.

3.     After that big meal, are you feeling like you need to shed off a few calories that you just packed on?  Then head on over to the state of the art gym and work off that extra slice of cake.  The gym includes just about every work machine you can think of from treadmills to weight machines.  TVs are hung for you viewing pleasure as you jog, or just look straight ahead out the window at the gorgeous view of the ocean.  (If you look long enough, it’ll feel like you’re running on water!)  You can also spend some time in the Olympic-size swimming pool or sweat off the pounds in the sauna.  If you’re feeling really adventurous, the ship crew also offers free exercise classes including Yoga and Tai Bo!

4.     Most cruise ships also have an array of planned activities that you can take part of.   These activities include game board/video game tournaments, special movie screenings, magic/juggling shows, and for those of age, wine tasting classes.  These can be very fun to show off your own skills and talents or pick up a new one.  Be aware that for some activities, you will have to sign up for before the cruise, and some may cost a fee.

5.     And finally, it just wouldn’t be a cruise without the swimming pools and sun bathing!  The top deck of the cruise ship is devoted to bronzing up to make all your friends back at home jealous.  Feel free to lie out all day and soak up the rays or go for a swim in one of up to four different swimming pools, or you can relax in one of the hot tubs.  If you have kids, some cruise ships have a twisting and turning water slide too!  No matter what you do, remember to apply your suntan lotion, lest you return home to be made fun of by your friends.  And, yes, for those of you looking for an all around tan, there is a topless deck.

Finding one thing to do that can please everyone your traveling is a hard thing to do; don’t be afraid to split up and adventure the ship as a smaller group.  However, for safety sake, try not to adventure on your own.  An easy way to stay in touch with your separated party to check in on them, or to meet up with them, is to bring along walkie-talkies.  Not only is it an easy way to stay close with those you separated with, but its also cheap, with cell phone costs at $3.00 a minute on the open seas.

So whatever your interests may be, taking a cruise will never be a dull experience.  There is always something for everyone to do!
